One horse, two horse, four horse, slant, straight load, bumper pull, goose neck, tack room, living quarters....OH MY!
I never knew how many options where out there for something as simple as a horse trailer. So many questions come up when looking. For example; what size do you want, what year is good or bad, new flooring, no flooring, some rust, bucket of rust, new tires, tires?, ect. I don't know even where to start. I feel like if there is a trailer out there within 200 miles I've looked at it. I have to use a stick to hold my mouth shut because every time I read the price my mouth falls open. I thought finding the horse was a challenge. This is right up there.
So folks if you have any suggestions on how to buy a horse trailer on a budget I'm open to any advice.
I feel for you! Buying a trailer is a big investment & takes time to find the "right" one. If you aren't planning on doing multiple day shows away from home, I personally would not worry about a LQ trailer. I have an aluminum Royal T 3 horse slant with tack room & love it. Wish I did have LQ as I do show away from home often, but that isn't in my budget. I can stay in a lot of motel rooms for what a LQ trailer costs! You also need to consider what you will be using to tow the trailer with. You don't want to buy a trailer AND a new truck!
ReplyDeleteWe have a new Dodge that we pull our travel trailer with. So lucky for us we have that one covered. Its the horse trailer that I'm in over my head on. I struggle with paying anything over $3,000.00 for a trailer I'll only use maybe once a month.
