  2. My name is ashley im from clackamas oregon , been showing horses since eight years old. I show, breed and train miniature horses and ponys. I also show my paint mare that i have had since a baby and shown 4h to ohset and now breed shows and open shows. My best tip on saving money on horse products would be , when applying showsheen i spray it on a cloth and then wipe down my horses, this helps by makeing the bottel last longer and you can evenly apply to your horse. On hoof polish i make mine last longer by useing less on the brush so that it doesnt drip off the hoof all over the ground. Cowboy magic tail detangler works well with slightly damp tail and you wont use as much as you would on a dry tail.

  4. Love the Showsheen!! Even use it on my show dogs. Don't make the mistake of putting it where the saddle pad sits. Makes it to slick for the saddle to stay put!!!

  5. Hi I'm Beverly! I am from southcentral PA. Best tip for horse products.....like many things quality not quantity. I don't mind spending a bit more for certain products because they will last longer or work better than a cheaper brand. Say shampp for example, you can get very inexpensive shampoo, but in the end you might end up using 2 - 3X as much to get the job done :)

  6. My name is Colleen and I enjoy riding with my whole family. My son and mother-in-law are avid endurance riders, my daughter shows in 4H, and we all like to trail ride together. I am also a 4H leader and as such have learned that when letting the younger kids show sheen their own horses we are better off to dilute it. It still works as well and their trigger happy little fingers don't waste as much. BTW, I'm lovin' your blog. Keep up the good work.

  7. Hi, my name is Lucy...I just moved to Hillsboro, Or end of June last year from northern NY. My horses are still there on my parents' farm, I have a 27 yr old arab/quarter horse mare, 17 yr old half Appy, a 7 yr old Haflinger gelding and his 4 yr old daughter and a 3 yr old Spotted draft mare. Grew up around my Gramp's Belgians, started driving when I was 12 when my dad got his first Belgian.
My money saving tip is buy in bulk whenever possible, if you have room to store it, buy the hay you'll need for the year in the summer, it's cheapest then, buy bulk shavings if you can find them (in NY we would get them from Amish saw mills).

  8. My name is Nicole, I'm from the outskirts of St. Paul. I have one horse that I love dearly and who is unfortunately a black and white paint. How I save money is by only buying what a need, and looking for sales at feed stores. Also if there is a human alternative, or something that would work instead I tend to use that instead. Horses are expensive!

  9. I am from Lake Stevens, WA. I have shown horses since I was 10, had some breaks away from horses during the years. My husband and I have two horses, both pintos, one is a saddlebred mare and one is a hackney horse (not pony, many people don't realize they come in horse size too). The saddlebred we ride and drive and the hackney we ride and will hopefully drive one day too. Our son Trevor shows them in halter classes, he doesn't like showing in the saddle. He used to show a miniture horse in driving but the horses are a bit much for him in driving just yet. To save money on horse products I will try to get a "barn" order together, sometimes online places will give quantity discounts and if the order is big enough will offer free shipping too. I am enjoying following your blog, Maddie and her horse are adorable!

We have a small farm where my husband has registered Hereford Cattle and does crop farming along with a 40hr week electrician job. We currently own 2 horses and a pony. We use Showsheen product throughout the summer months and into the fall. They work great! I enjoy your blog!

  13. Hi! We have two paints. One black and white the other brown and white with a brown, black and white mane. They are so hard to keep that white white. We have never tried this product but would be interested to see how well it works with these boys that have a lot of white. We are in Salem and might start using our big white and back guy for our little one to use in showmanship. Oh, we are in Salem Oregon.
