It's not cheap ($200 and up depending where you live) but a good vet can find a lot of things that someone could be trying to hide or may not realize themselves about a horse. In the long run it could save you much, much more in money and heart break and you can begin with the peace of mind knowing your new horse has a clean bill of health.
